Gay Networking Groups Launch Job Search Facility

A London gay network has launched the UK’s first online recruitment and employment service for gay professional men and women.

Job Search comes from the people who run Circa and sister club Velvet, the networking groups for gay professional men and women.

Subscribers to the groups will now have access to online gay and lesbian job database which currently includes 2,000 jobs from over 60 recruitment agencies.

The service will be of definite benefit to potential employers and recruiters with the Circa and Velvet networks attracting around 3 million hits per month.

“Circa and Velvet already provide 10,000s of gay and lesbian professionals with a whole host of excellent networking opportunities, for both business and pleasure," Circa and Velvet founder and MD, Patricia Madden told onrec.com.

"Our Job Search facility is a genuine UK-first – nothing else like it exists – placing 1,000’s of exciting gay-friendly job prospects mere clicks away from our subscribers and other browsers. We know all UK employers should now, by law, welcome gay and lesbian employees. We also know – from cases reported in the media – that not all do. Job Search provides LGBs with a useful reassurance.

The Treasury estimates that there are around 1.6 million gay and lesbian employees in the UK.

The the so-called "Pink Pound” is estimated to be worth £70 billion in the UK, according to a 2006 Independent on Sunday survey.

“Our new Job Search feature has been designed to be extremely user-friendly from ‘both ends’ - quickly and effortlessly bringing together the gay and the gay-friendly in the job market," added Circa Job Search’s development consultant, David Morgan.
