Bond May Go Gay For Oscar

Daniel Craig would 'go gay' if he thought he was going to grab an Oscar for his role in the James Bond movies, according to the actor's former co-star.

Tamer Hassan who appeared with Daniel in Matthew Vaughn's 2004 British gangster film Layer Cake feels the 007 actor would be up for some man on man actor in the next Bond film if he knew it would get him an Academy Award.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Tamer said: "Daniel [is] dying for an Oscar. Ever since Brokeback Mountain everyone wants to have a gay scene to win an Oscar."

If Bond was to have a gay liaison - it wouldn't be Daniel's first 'outing' into playing gay roles.

In 1998 he appeared in John Maybury's Love Is The Devil playing artist Francis Bacon's lover, snogged Rhys Ifans in Enduring Love and kissed actor Toby Jones as Truman Capote's killer Perry Smith in Infamous.

Though the actor says he won't be following the trend.

"You couldn't get me doing that though - my son would never forgive me! I've got a 16-year-old son, so can you imagine? He would get ridiculed for it. And he's at a professional soccer club too - can you imagine the dressing room banter?! So, no, they couldn't get me doing that. They can keep the Oscar and I'll keep my virginity!"

Tamer is currently appearing in Hammer Films' first movie for 30 years, Beyond The Rave which is to be broadcast on myspace.tv.

The Turkish actor also added he's quite keen on the Bond role himself when Craig hangs up his dinner suit.

"I would love to be Bond. But I don't think they are ready to put a Turkish man in a 007 suit yet. If they do change their minds I'm sure I will be one of the first ones in the hat."
