Lesbian Oz Couple Jailed For Dorset Girl's Murder

An Australian court has jailed two lesbian lovers for the murder of a British teenager.

Stacey Mitchell was bludgeoned to death with a concrete block and strangled her with a dog chain just days after moving in with Jessica Ellen Stasinowsky, 21, and Valerie Paige Parashumti, 19 from Perth.

After they killed her, the couple kissed over the body of their dead of their 16-year-old victim, Western Australia's Supreme Court in Perth was told.

The pair were sentence to a strict security life imprisonment, with a minimum 24-year non-parole period this morning.

Both had pleaded guilty to Stacey's murder at a house in the Perth suburb of Lathlain in December 2006.

Justice Peter Blaxell said Stasinowsky and Parashumti's crime was particularly horrifying because of the amusement their gleaned from the killing, and their failure to show remorse and their lack of a substantial motive.

An earlier court hearing was told they had killed Stacey because she had been annoying them.

"You have each had more than a year in custody to reflect upon the evilness of your crime, yet you still lack remorse and obviously place no value on the sanctity of human life," Justice Blaxell said.

"There is also the added problem that you each enjoy being sexually aroused by the infliction of violence."

Stacey, who had moved to Australia with her family from West Moors in Dorset, was staying at the Lathlain house after running away from home.

The court previously heard how Stasinowsky resented Stacey because she thought the teenager was flirting with Parashumti.

In an extreme act of proving her commitment to Stasinowsky, Parashumti and her lover agreed to kill her.

The trio had been drinking whiskey and had taken Stilnox tablets, which had made Stacey drowsy.

Parashumti then crept up behind Stacey and started hitting her on the head with a concrete paving slab.

As she tried to escape, Parashumti kept hitting Stacey with the now-broken slab while Stasinowsky took off a dog chain belt and began to strangle her.

Stacey took at least 45 minutes to die, but Stasinowsky later told a prison officer she wished it had lasted longer.

"Even more appalling are your admissions to the effect that at the time of the murder you were each sexually excited by the violence of the event," Justice Blaxell said.

A psychologist found Parashumti, who drank blood as part of a vampire subculture, had strong sadistic tendencies and was sexually aroused by torture and violence.

The killers made a mobile phone video of the murder scene, laughing and mocking their victim's accent, and then dumped her body in a wheelie bin in the back shed.

Police found the body when they raided the house days later.

Shortly before her death, Stacey had phoned her parents and agreed to come home. When she didn't, her parents called the police.

Stacey's mother, Sophie, shook uncontrollably after the sentencing as she and her husband Andy said no sentence would ever be long enough.

"Though we are glad that this part of the ordeal is over, the pain of losing Stacey will live with us forever," they said in a statement.

Justice Blaxell recommended Stasinowsky and Parashumti be kept apart in Bandyup prison in West Swan, Western Australia, so as not to encourage their "perverse outlook on life."

David Haynes, 27, another occupant of the shared house, was sentenced to two years' jail last year after pleading guilty to being an accessory after the fact. He was released on parole on February 15.
