Former Baywatch Star Comes Out

Former Baywatch star Jaason Simmons has come about being gay in an Australian magazine.

Jaason, who played Logan Fowler in the hit US series, also revealed he is to wed his partner of eight months, Irish actor John O'Callaghan, in Canada in the summer.

The couple currently live in California and have a six year adoptive son from Uganda.

Talking to New Idea magazine, 38-year-old Jaason said: "We're doing it (getting married) for our family and for my soon-to-be son."

"Although you don't want to typecast yourself, you have to take responsibility and ownership and move humanity forward, out of bigotry."

"Our son needs to see we can stand in front of family and loved ones who are going to support our union through the good times and bad."

Jaason starred in Baywatch from 1994 until 1996. His character had a relationship with Caroline Holden, played by Yasmine Bleeth.

During its height, one in five people tuned into the show from 142 countries every week.

Since then he has starred in a number of theatre productions in Australia and the US and has appeared in a several acclaimed independent movies.

The Tasmanian-born actor has also campaigned to save the Tasmanian Rainforest with Rainforest Action Network.
